The Corvidae system is designed to simplify endotracheal intubation.

Initially designed by Dr. Thomas Viren, the Corvidae system reflects his drive for optimizing materials while improving safety. His wilderness expeditions taught him to use resources wisely while ensuring the safety of all.
The device is equipped with a camera, light, and articulating tip to help facilitate insertion and eliminate the need for a stylet, video laryngoscope, and x-ray placement confirmation.
The system has the potential to serve as a routine go-to device due to its ability to reach difficult airways more easily and simplify the procedure, thereby improving outcomes, reducing resources/costs, as well as being suited for low-resource environments (e.g. rural, military, emergency medical services).

Meet The Team

Tom Viren
Founder of Corvidae Medical in 2015, Dr. Thomas Viren believes it is crucial to design simpler solutions that allow pre-hospital emergency personnel, military medics, emergency providers and anesthesiologists to respond quickly, accurately and safely to patients with emergent airway issues. His invention of the StylETube does just that. Dr. Viren received his MD from the University of Minnesota. Wilderness expeditions taught him to use resources wisely. His photo of the whale with a mountain backdrop symbolizes natural simplicity. Experience the simplicity of the StylETube.

Chip Tabor
Dr. Chip Tabor joined Corvidae in 2023 with primary focus on design optimization. He brings a combination of clinical and engineering experience as a practicing emergency medicine physician with 18 years of medical device experience including design, development, and project management from concept through commercial release and pre- and post-market clinical studies involving class I-III devices. He has served as a medical device consultant to multiple companies and NSF grant reviewer. He holds an MD and MS in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota and over 20 U.S. patents.
